For years I used baking soda along the inside walls and bug spray outside. A former student recommended cinnamon. Now I mix half baking soda/half cinnamon for inside use, and thus far it's worked.
If you're spraying directly on the ants, water with a little soap will do the trick, no need for the lemongrass oil. If you add some white vinegar, you'll destroy their pheromone trail, too.
The baking soda/cinnamon idea sounds like it'd work similarly, making it hard for the ants to have a good scent trail to follow.
