Hello Everyone

I have taken my cat to the vet about this, She is indoor only cat and their is no chance anybody has hurt her

My cat started having this problem around 2 weeks ago, she is arching her back when walking and her 2 back legs are limping im really scared.

The vet said she was constipated and she had enemas to clear that up

They did x-rays and she had bad knees - possibly luxating patellas

But they are saying she has back pain it didn't show on xray, she has had cortisone injection I'm really worried about her i love her so much please any help or input would be great.

I will put a video of her walking

Thanks for any help much appreciated.

Did the enemas definitely fix the constipation?

How old is she?

We really can't do a lot here as the vet is the person to help, but someone may have seen something like it.   I do hope it's something treatable.. she looks like such a sweetie too.

Luke I think if people recognised what it is they would tell you.. I'm sure we're all pretty keen to know what is going on.

She is keeping her back legs really straight while walking but has no trouble bending them when seated.  The arching of her back is really confusing.

Did the cortisone injection help at all?

I honestly think she needs to be seen again, either by the original vet or get another opinion.

Hi Luke.Enemas' don't solve constipation. They will remove hard feces but there was a reason your baby became constipated in the first place. And will very likely get constipated again.Have you had her since a kitten? I mean really young? 8wks or?? How are her bowel movements now? I mean for softness.they have to be soft.Any time in the kitty litter and they soon become dried of logs. Are they logs or balls you are seeing. Are you able to watch her poo or are you at work & come home to a poo? There is a difference. Many people who work have had to install cheap Ip cameras aimed at the litterbox to observe their kitty poo.If it is is hooded you take it off.You can have it set up for motion sensor so with movement it will send you an email on your phone or record onto your hardrive..Have you watched her assume the position & poo? Also have you noticed her pees 7 just how lge of clump you are receiving? I am from the feline mega Colon site@ yahoo & looking at her video she looks like she has something uncomfortable in her gut area to me.zdid they feel her kneed were a congenital thing or what?Did they say why all of a sudden this would be this way.Can she jump up on things ok? Is it possible she jumped up on something while you were out & fell? This can happen & did happen with one of my kitties. Is she eating & drinking ok? Affectionate. Can you pick her up & does she show any signs of pain feeling her gut area carefully.?Some kitties have had rear pelvic injuries in the past.the owner never had them since being born and has no way of knowing.Over time this injury can start to give a kitty constipation etc.usually a rear pelvic xray looking at the bones/hips etc and you will sometimes see bones fused together etc.the pelvic area becomes narrower than a normal cat's behind & over time constipation which is extremely painful for cats or MC long term can develop.i'm not saying that is the problem. But she didn't become constipated out of the blue.Cats with constipation are in epidemic forms.owners see poops in a toilet having no idea if it was rocks when it came out or not.MultiCat households even worse as there are always poos in there.Who did what.So as time goes by one kitty may not have pooed for a week and then finally shows the owner other symptoms to say Heah something is wrong with me.HTH C.

Hi

thanks for the reply,

i have had her since 9 weeks she is going to toilet peeing and pooing by herself, she is doing logs i will watch her poo next time she lets me touch her gut but walks off.

she jumps on the bed and chair, nothing higher like she used to

The vet said she has bad knees but its not the source of the problem and thinks its back pain she is still not much better at all...

she is eating and drinking normally and affectionate

she will twitch her back if i run my hand down it, which makes me think its to do with her back

thanks

Vet said she has luxating patellas on both back knees, and shes going in tomorrow to see the two surgeon vets to get their opinion and then they could be operating on one of her legs..

Hi

I know it’s a very old thread but I just signed up to comment and see if you figured out what was wrong with your kitty? My kitten is having a very similar issue and all the vets are so puzzled not knowing what is going on. I’m so devastated as he looks in pain!

Hello there,

In case anyone in future comes across this same problem..

My cat had patellar luxation on both back knees which was a genetic problem, and required surgery on each leg to fix it. shes 5 years old now and doing well :)
