Hello everyone, I wanted to introduce myself and my reason for being, a mass of red-gold fur with green eyes and a long striped tail named Amber. Amber has owned me for almost 9 years now, since December 16, 1996. She was born about july 4, 1996, so we celebrate her birthday along with our country's. (I tell her the entire country is celebrating HER birthday because she is so important--and she agrees with me.) Amber, as you might have guessed, is the joy of my life
and she's a gifted clown who can make me laugh no matter how down or discouraged I get. We live in a small town in South Carolina and find that it suits us both very well. Amber is an indoor-only cat, but she has a large window that opens to a great view of the back yard, where she sits on her perch and (in nice weather) has only the window screen between her and the great outdoors. She loves sitting in her window breathing in the fresh air and watching tons of birds, butterflies, squirrels, flying bugs, and the occasional appearance of our neighbor's cat
who I regret to say, Amber does not love. Amber also loves naps (naturally, sometimes on her window perch but really anywhere she chooses!), warm laps, a nice bed with people in it to sleep with, snuggles, treats, and toys, especially a battered cloth rodent named Mr. Mouse whom she carries from room to room--Mr. Mouse is her favorite baby
. Not so much to say about me as I am only Amber's mom/servant (despite being QueenofEgypt
) I am currently unemployed (on disability which I hope will be temporary), and I love cats
(especially Amber of course), writing, reading (anything), history, psychology, archaeology, the ancient world, real-life mysteries, interesting people--lots of things really! Amber and I are very happy
to be here, and hope to make lots of new friends--both feline and human.
