I was finally able to confirm my account here and I must say that I am EXCITED to have found this site. I currently live with my three furry feline fuzzies, two of which were fostered from rescuing and one being adopted. My sister owns two females and I own just one male cat.
Big Eyes was found with her siblings in a box left at a corner of a restaurant during Hurricane Katrina. I simply HAD to take her in. My family has been blessed to have her in our family. She is such a great companion. I couldn't think of a day without having her around.
Next in my family, I have Nala and she was adopted from a friend who had a litter of kittens. Nala sure loves to purr. Do any of your cats purr loudly? One of the things I find funny is how she likes to lick my hand in order to get me to pet her. Nala is really affectionate.
The last addition would be Paki. This cat is probably one of my closest friends. He has such spirit that it is really inspiring. When I first got him, he was about a few weeks old and along with his four other siblings and was the runt of the litter. His poor mom was a stray and was in very bad condition to nurture her babies. When we found her, she was like a walking skeleton. I had to take her in. I couldn't bear seeing her that way, not being having the strength to nurture her babies. Paki being the youngest got sick easily. He seemed to have had some allergy in his eye and I made sure that went away. I was able to plump up his mom and make sure Paki's siblings were well fed and I with the power of the internet, I was able to find excellent candidates willing to adopt them. Sadly, Paki didn't have much luck. In fact, we went to two different families until in the end I was able to adopt him. Paki was definitely meant to stay with me. He has brought so many laughs and amazing memories.
As for me, I'm currently a student studying to become an Architect. My love for cats has probably inspired ideas of designing spaces. It would be really cool to design spaces in the likings of a cat but on a human scale and have us just try to see the world the way they do. I think that would be awesome.
Anyway, thank you for having me here and I am psyched to start learning more about cats on this site!
