Yes those lattice fences are usually pretty thin and easy to break. If the cat panics too much and doesn't pull his head out by himself he will need help!
Poor guy, I had doubled the lattice (it is the thick plastic white kind) to make the holes smaller and he managed to go up and over through two of the holes- Oh my!
I donned some thick leather gloves and got my drill.I hung my sweater down to cover his face and talked softly and even gently rubbed his head and he remained calm. I one point I thought he was passing away as his eyes took on a vacant release look (we all know sadly too well .
I had to work fast!
I started to undrill all the screws I had just spent an hour putting in and took out the pieces of lattice 1 by 1 until I got to the area he was stuck.
I was able to slide out a piece of lattice to the side of his head and he (just like a woman at 10cm) gave one last huge push and vaulted back inside. Luckily there were no sharp edges.
Just then some Jehovah Witnesses came to my door and my dog went absolutely bonkers, barking and carrying on. Thank goodness they didn't show up 2 minutes before.
Sadie is inside his safety cubby again and I pray I will see him again before next year and that he can forgive me.
Thank-you God for looking out for this little kitty
.
...just kinda thinking as an afterthought, not that I am religious or anything but it is almost a sign that when the JW showed up at my door that God was saying, I am here.
Oh I'm so glad you were able to release him! TERRIFYING!
I really wish I'd bookmarked the story of the kitty with his head caught in the sink drain. I think you'd really appreciate it about now! I'll see if I can find it...
So relieved that Sadie is alright How very scary. He will forgive you . It is always so incredible the predicaments that cat's can get themselves into :shocker: Yeah, that Rudy story takes the cake on that . Glad all is well now OH, yes, get the thick, pet proof screening material. That should work
