I may be getting one of my former foster cats back after two years because he's been having peeing issues in his new home. Apparently he has peed on the bed, on the couch, on clothes, on rugs, etc. Sometimes he can go months without an incident and sometimes it will happen a few days apart.
I make a lifetime commitment to all my rescues so if the adopters won't keep him he's welcome back here. I'm not very excited about peeing issues either, though, and I want to come up with a way to deal with it. I have a few things in mind but if it turns out that it isn't working I considered putting a diaper on him. I've looked at cat diapers and they do make a kind that comes with a harness looking thing that goes over the shoulders so the cat can't take the diaper off. One thing I'm wondering about is if he wears a diaper all day how would he poop if he has to? How has others dealt with this issue? Pooping in the diaper would not be a good option either for the kitty or me. I have a dog that wears diapers because she's incontinent but I take it off when we go outside to go potty but cats go at will.
How has other people dealt with this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
