They do have a good customer service, and you can contact them... I would also take it back to Petco or wherever you bought it to show them, maybe that lot needs to be taken from the shelves.
Keep that in the fridge, or frozen, in case you need to send it back to the company.
Write down the lot # and the dates, for when you call the company.
As someone who found plastic in NB GP&D I can say that what you posted is NOT plastic. I can post pics of the plastic if you would like?Originally Posted by madara
I cleaned them off and used a cardboard backing since they are small. I would say my cat has eaten 5 cans with this white stuff in there. I just found two reviews on amazon complaining about plastic? This better not be that or Im going go ballistic as they are dated as old as January.
this is very true ... many if not all foods have had an issue at some pt ...Originally Posted by Snake_Lady
I wouldn't feed it for now, see what NB says.
NB is indeed a good food, but like most pet foods, they've had their problems. There's really no pet food company that has never had a problem. But I do find NB to be semi sincere in their "caring" about complaints..... they did when I found a 4ish inch strand of plastic in my food anyways.
true, but NB seems to have a lot of problems though... Mold, plastic, and this white stuff... Someone is not doing a very good job in keeping that operation smooth and with good quality control.Originally Posted by sharky

interesting... I never found this on the cans I opened, and it was many many of them...Originally Posted by AbbysMom
I noticed this a few years back with this food. Some batches have more than others, but all of the cans have it. It's more noticeable when you add water, as I used to do for Abby, as the white flecks float a bit. I did contact Natural Balance and unfortunately I don't remember their response. I'm pretty sure they told me they tested the lot, found no issues and sent me more cans.
I now feed the Royal Canin venison and green pea and this does not have the white flecks.
bone would be what I thought of but are there any meals in the formula ? Glad it went for testingOriginally Posted by madara
Just an update. My Vet thought they were calcium based or bone fragments, wasn't too worried.. Petco was more leery and pulled the stock and is directly talking to NB, sending out my bag of samples. Funny thing is I found some in duck and pea cans now too. 80 percent less, not hundreds of sharp hard pieces but there is some white solid fragments in there too.
I should have been more clear, sorry bout that. I was asking b/c I just bought two cases of the NB Venison & Green Pea, the 3oz cans, but when I opened the cans the color seemed different. Some of the cans do smell like they should, but some don't. Also there seems to be some of that white stuff you described in some of the cans. And Rascal not wanting to eat it like he normally does, although there are some cans that he is eating.Originally Posted by Shanynne
What was the batch number? It is found at the bottom of the unopened can, as well as the time.
