Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
I agree I'm much happier spending Thanksgiving with my cats, especially Lynxx. I don't think my Aunt understood that on the phone, but I almost lost Lynxx, there's no way I'm leaving him alone especially on a holiday! My father's side of the family is about 15 minutes away. My mother's side is 3 states away. I do miss spending Thanksgiving with my mother's side of the family, that's usually where we go. I intend to spend Christmas Eve/Day with the cats as well!Originally Posted by otto
Me too. Happy Thanksgiving to all in the USA.
We're going to get an ice storm so I get to stay home with the cats. I love it when I get to stay home on a holiday, it almost never happens. Usually I have to travel 200 miles give or take, round trip.
Luna's been trying to help prepare the turkey as well!Originally Posted by Tara & Rob

Thanksgiving Day Celebration in the United StatesOriginally Posted by MysteryCat
I'm just curious why do we celebrate thanksgiving? Who do we thank? What do we thank for? Does everyone celebrate it?
It is a time to remember the pilgrims. The original pilgrims celebrated the autumn harvest with a feast of thanks. The feast popularly known as the 'First Thanksgiving Day Feast' was held as a gesture of thanks to almighty God . It was celebrated in the year 1621. After the United States gained independence, Congress recommended one yearly day of thanksgiving for the whole nation to celebrate.
