Today is my Muddy Waters and Koko Taylor's 6th birthday.
We came home from work to find a feral mom and her 4 newborn kittens by our front porch. The kittens were born probably an hour earlier as their mom was still cleaning them up. We built a shelter for them, but 10 days later their mom was killed most likely by a dog or coyote. So we've raised them since they were 10 days old.
Koko is my little wild child. She never got true cat manners, and she still terrorizes everybody in the house. She is all daddy's girl.
Muddy is my love bug. If you don't love him when he wants love, he throws temper tantrums. He has a multi-pitch voice, and he always cracks us up with the sounds that come out of him.
Here are some pictures of them growing up. I really love these guys!!
Here they are as babies with their brothers Jake and Elwood. Left to right: Koko, Elwood, Muddy and Jake:
They loved to snuggle and I call this picture "earmuffs". Koko on the left, Muddy on the right:
Growing up. Koko on left, Muddy on right:
We tried to get a picture of Muddy sleeping, and Koko popped her head into the picture:
Enjoying their birthday present a few years ago. Muddy in back, Koko up front:
Tonight, on their sixth birthday. Yes, they got treats on the kitchen counter.
