My cat is approximately 7-8 yrs. old.  he has asthma & IBS/chronic pancreatitis.  AS a result he is on prednisolone twice a day.  he had to have his belly shaved last summer for an ultrasound & his hair has never grown back.  Does anyone know if that could be due to long-term steroids?

I think it could be because of the steroid.  My kitty has been on one, mostly prednisolone for 5 years.  I have noticed that when he is shaved for an IV now, like the dental that he had recently, it takes longer for the hair to grow back.  I know that in human women it has an effect on hair growth.  Women may have more issues with unwanted facial hair but the hair on their scalps will thin.

Thanks, Denice.  I tend to agree with you.  I have talked to his vet but she's not willing to commit.
