Just to fill you on on our scare with Angel (she is around 16years old)
A couple of weeks ago one morning I saw her eye was all red, half closed and her cheek was all puffy and swollen. Took her to the dr right away. His first reaction was "doesn't look good". He suspected it might be a tumor. We were both just devastated, but sort of expected the worst. He gave her an antibiotic shot, antibiotic pill to give her, and eye meds. took a sample to send to the lab. The next morning her cheek was better, it had drained and I found blood and liquid from the drainage. Long story shorter - it was a very bad infection/abscess. After a few days of meds she started to look better. The eye was open more (it's still not as large as her other eye), the swelling on the cheek disappeared. She eats like a little pig but was very skinny and bony. Thyroid test was borderline. She is on thyroid pills and looks SO MUCH better. She acts better, even though she has always been a little prima-donna, and very grouchy. But that's our "Angel". (wrong name!). So she is here to stay -- really thought we were going to lose her. Becoming more affectionate and it's so nice to see her recover. And she is definitely putting on a bit of weight. Will be on the thyroid pills the rest of her life - will do another blood work in 3 mos.
