we have had my cat for 2 years now and she is still hissing and growling at us. but sometimes she can be the sweetest thing ever what does this mean?????

There are probably hundreds of things it could mean, but here's my story. Doobie fit your description. He could be super sweet, coming for cuddles purring all the way. Then wham! hiss, scratch, run! I kept thinking he had too much energy for me to handle. When he was about 1 1/2 we adopted a puppy. He finally had a match for his energy. They roll around the floor wrestling and playing. Now Doobie is calm and sweet with us and saves the rough play for his puppy.
