Hello,
First, thank you all for your knowledge as this has become my go-to place for advice without judgement. I’m very grateful for this group!
I have a Persian cat that has a lot of medical issues due to her breed. She was fine as a kitten but has had more issues as she ages, and we had some unfortunate events at our apartment. We did some testing and found she’s allergic to cotton, pine and jute. We lived in an apartment that was all carpeted and had pine trees and were planning to relocate due to this. One day, after heavy rain, we noticed our carpet was soaked. Long story short, we found lots of mold in our closet and had to throw out a lot of our belongings. We found more mold when we moved out and officially left yesterday to a place that is all vinyl floor and without pine (yay!).
My baby started having green eye discharge about a month ago. Vet gave us terramycin for 10 days. It did the trick but 6 days later it returned. We did terramycin for another 7 days. 5 days later (today) it has returned. I attached a photo and you can see it in the corner of her eyes.
We moved yesterday and she’s been extremely curious and active and doesn’t act sick at all. At our previous place with mold she would sleep for like 18 hours and be somewhat active, but we knew the air and carpet was probably making her feel sick. She takes antihistamines every day but still was super congested. In our new house, she is very sneezy and snorty but I can’t tell if she’s trying to get build up out, or if the congestion can cause the eye boogers? Again she is a Persian with the tiniest nostrils I’ve ever seen.
Some other important info:

Some other important info:
- She is almost 3 years old
- She had an eye culture done, everything was negative
- Vet suggested a nose culture, we declined because her nostrils are incredibly small and she struggles with breathing as it is, but we will do it if we have to
- She has had a hard time eating due to congestion when putting her head down today and yesterday, so we’ve helped with hand feeding a few kibbles at a time
- Money is not an issue. She has vet insurance and we can pay for testing and whatnot, it’s more that we don’t want to stress her out by taking her to the vet when not needed
- We are going to ask for a blood test to be done at the vet today to see if there is an infection
- Thank you so much for your time and help! I am so tired of worrying, I cry about this very often and my mental health is declining so rapidly. I am so frustrated that I can’t help and it is taking a heavy toll on my well being to the point that I am physically ill. Thank you again for your patience and help.
