Hello! Some very nice moderators suggested that I introduce myself here. I came here a few days ago seeking advice on my old kitty-cat who went blind suddenly last week (fortunately has now regained her sight!).
I have three geriatric cats--Bear is about 14, Alexandra is 19 (with a supposedly aggressive cancer diagnosed last February--but she is still doing great with no treatment, no problems except a big tumor on her chin), and Cleopatra is Alexandra's mom so must be at least 20 (we got the two of them, plus our two-years-departed Isabella, as a "set"
). Lucy, Bear's kitten, died at I think age 8, of we're not sure what--she had lung problems including sudden asthma the last month of her life and a previous history of near-fatal pyothorax.
We also have a couple of guinea pigs--my two college students brought them home unexpectedly last year, no doubt nostalgic for the piggies we had when they were in grade school. I cannot believe we are back to shavings littering the house again...!!
Myself, I'm a middle-aged married mom in the Pacific Northwest, work as a library clerk and a freelance editor.
I will probably not spend a great deal of time here as I am usually way behind in everything, and I do participate on a couple of other forums, but I am very glad to have found a site for kitty health with such really nice and helpful people. Hope to be able to contribute what little I know!
