Hi all!

I want to show my vet and his staff my appreciation for taking care of my cat and all the other animals during the pandemic.

Has anyone bought there vet and staff a gift for the Holidays?

If yes, what and how did it go?

Also, price range that is good.

I am looking for universal ideas!

Hmmmm, I'd been thinking about a card with a handwritten note of gratitude for the amazing help and support they gave us, since because of them my Big Fella Poppycat is still with us and having regular zoomies.

I'd considered a few things, but food related items, which are technically for more people, are complicated what with allergies and special diets so I kind of ground down to a halt and ended up with a card ..

Maybe ask them, if by chance they also board animals or provide support to rescues, if there's something you could donate?

We have a local French bakery that was doing a lot of "thank you" trays during the shutdown. They had a variety of options. Some were savory with sandwiches, soups, quiches and things of that nature. Others were sweet and included coffee. Someone did send one to the main office of my vet's too. They posted it on their Facebook page and seemed awfully happy about it. I mean I would be too; their pastries are AMAZING.🤤 Maybe something like that is in your area? (and price range!) Otherwise maybe some kind of gift card that the staff can put towards ordering lunch. The days we ordered lunch were always the best at work.

DH was given several bottles of wine as a thank you during the shut down too. I just don't know how well you know your vet's clinic and how big it is. My high school reunion planning ended up being a drama fest (fit for a high school) because 2 ladies took it upon themselves to book it at a club. (classy...) The main issue was that they chose a place where drinking is the main event. My cousin is a teacher and always jokes that wine is her favorite gift from students followed by coffee. ;)

I'd say maybe a food gift if you didn't want to spend a lot, but if you can spend a little more, I'd suggest seeing if your vet will accept a donation on behalf of someone struggling with paying the vet bills.

What I have done, with Christmas gifts for my Vet and staff is based on the fact that I am a Trader Joe's junkie...

I picked up a few gift boxes of munchies from TJ's and gave it to them. It was well recieved.

When my specialist lost his mother, I sent him a food package from one of the companies.

A homemade food gift during Covid times is not a good idea, especially one that is shared like cake. Store bought is probably ok but a huge tray of something where people pick and choose what they want might not be good. You know there are people who touch everything before they decide on what they want :rolleyes3: If the vet staff is small you could do store bought individually wrapped boxes / packages of chocolates or something.

Maybe sponsor a shelter animal in the vet's name or donate money to help a struggling client pay a bill.

In the past, before Covid, we always brought in several popcorn tins for the vet staff to share. I give the groomer at our vet a separate gift because she is extremely sweet and does such a good job with Carleton. Since the hospital's resident mascot passed away at the age of 16 I plan to make a donation as a tribute to him. He was a beautiful and very friendly orange kitty. :redcat:

Awl this is such a nice gesture, I'm due up to see my vet this month. I always give her fresh eggs but maybe something extra like a card and like LTS3 LTS3 said sponsoring a shelter animal in her name. That's such a good idea!

I don't know where Vets get their supplies from but maybe a gift card for chewy/valleyvet/jeffers would be a nice gesture. Or just any ole gift card. Really it's the thought that counts, they probably don't get a lot of gifts from patients.

There are veterinary-only suppliers such as Patterson Vet and Henry Schein. None offer gift cards. I doubt the general public could contact such a supplier and offer to pay for part of their vet's bill or other gesture. Vet offices go through lots of PPE and cleaning supplies so if one could purchase nitrile gloves in various sizes, hand sanitizers, hand soap, paper towels, etc that would be really helpful. I'd check with the vet first, though. See if they have a gift list on Amazon that you can purchase from.

I was thinking a pair of leather elbow length welding gloves and vouchers to the local PTSD clinic after putting up with our little beasties.
Just kidding.
After my last cat died I received a huge bunch offlowers and cards from all the staff so now I send them Christmas cards and a big box of chocolates in return. The chocolates dont last very long..lol
