Jellybean started off as an indoor cat. A few months back my mom made me put him outside. Well after I brought home my German Shepherd, Jellybean had a fit about it and ran off for 2 or 3 months. He came home and his coat was a mess.
(We found him like 3 weeks ago)
Before he ran off he had a BEAUTIFUL coat that was oh so soft to touch and it was very clean. I took pride in how well groomed he was and how wonderful his coat was and would kill to have that back.
When he came home he had some mats on his belly which I trimmed out, I found 3 ticks, his coat was incredibly greasy and he looked like someone had sprinkled snow on him with all the dandruff.
I've since brought him back inside and now he's got his own room in the garage. (1 because he hates the dogs and 2 because my mom/family hates him) I gave him a bath, brushed him out well, got the mats out and have been keeping up on his grooming the way I did before. Nothing seems to be helping to get his coat back though.
Any advice on getting that "show cat" coat back? (Not that he'll ever see a show. xP)
He's a black, long haired mix and I'm pretty sure he's got a good deal of Maine Coon in him.
Do you think a "lion cut" would be best and just start all over? Trim down just his torso and neck, leaving the legs/feet, tail and head?
Any product advice?
