my cat is 10 years old and in the last 4 days has had gas non-stop. is this normal in any cat or do you think it could be something to do with his age?

Since it is a sudden change, I would get him checked out by a vet. Changes in diet (including sneaking food or treats that he shouldn't get) can cause gas problems, but if there haven't been any changes that you know about, it would be best to rule out other problems.
