My cat is 2 years old slightly overweight but otherwise healthy. He has really bad dandruff from his middle back down to his tail. He is black so it's really noticeable. And his ears are dry as well. He always wants his ears scratched but only the tips of his ears. He is now losing the fur on them especially the left ear. Does he need to go to the vet?

So I read that organic Virgin coconut oil is good for cats with dry skin. So I put some on his ears. The later I noticed that his ears felt really warm to the touch. I used a cat cleansing wipe to clean it off. I hope I didn't just make everything worse! I need help please!

I would recommend a vet visit. There can be several causes for fur loss in cats, including fleas, mites, ringworm, and allergies.
