I'm getting to the end of reasons as to why my cat throws up.
Here is her history :
Chi - long haired - female - Adopted her at 13 weeks
- lived with myself and another kitten same age (Rue - orange tabby - female)
- at 6 months both cats were spayed
- at 1 year, moved in with boyfriend to new apartment
- at 2.5 yrs she throws up maybe once a month. We contribute it to her eating too quickly
- at 3 yrs she throws up maybe once a week. Take her to the vet, he suggests blood work and adding flavored hairball gel remover to food. Blood work comes back with low white blood cell count and increased calcium levels. Vet said this is odd for a young seemingly healthy cat. Suggests retest in a month. Also gives me some samples of prescription Hills science wet food
- after a month we come back and retest. She's eating wet food and doing a lot better. Blood work is better and vet thinks original test results was due to vomiting.
- month later move in to a house with both cats and same boyfriend. We noticed some racing between both cats while eating. We separated then by feeding vomit kitty in the pantry. We added an extra 5-10 mins when done eating to make sure she kept it down. If she did vomit, it would be on hard wood flooring. Been in house for 2 months now and she's still vomiting up to 3x a week.
Foods I've tried :
- hills science wet food for hairball control
- dry Blue buffalo food sensitive stomach
- IAMS and Purina
- meat broth on dry food
- hairball remover and preventive gel
Things I've tried :
- more play time before eating
- special bowls and objects in dish to slow her down
- separately feeding both cats
- fancy brushes(she hates them) though never seen hair in her vomit
- cat grass (not interested)
I'm at wits end. I absolutely love my cat and have had her since before my boyfriend and I started dating. She's very sweet to me but can be rough with boyfriend and other cat. I know this is upsetting my boyfriend (and myself), but I can't give up on her. Was really hoping someone on here has experienced something similar or can suggest another place to ask.
