I have already emailed my vet with the photo for advice. Would love some at home care advice from here while I wait on the response (will likely come tomorrow)

I don't know when this happened as his behavior has not changed in the slightest. I only noticed as he was sleeping belly up happily next to my pillow. He is indoor only and has a happy friendly relationship with my other cat. I've only found this single mark so I hope it's not a bite wound. He doesn't seem to care in the slightest even when I gently wiped his wound area with a paper towel soaked with warm water.

Do you feed out of plastic dishes? If so, it could be feline acne. Try feeding using ceramic or stainless steel bowls and wash between feedings.

No he eats from stainless steel bowls that are washed every meal, same for his water bowl, except it's glass. Does chin acne look so horrifying? He's had acne before but it looked like acne, this looks like a puncture wound.

Has the Vet gotten back with you yet? If not, you can clean the wound with Vetricyn Pet store, hopefully) , or even Hibiclens (drug store). Is it bothering him? There is also this from our member Mamanyt1953 Mamanyt1953 :

"You can also see if chamomile tea will help, it's excellent for all kinds of skin "ouchies." Buy the plain, unblended chamomile tea bags at the grocery store. That way you know you're getting German chamomile that is medicinally active and safe for cats. The English variety, that grows in many gardens is neither. Chill the tea in the fridge, and swab on with a soft cloth or cotton ball as needed. Chamomile is mildly antibiotic and antibacterial, and is wonderfully soothing!"

That's so bizarre--my cat had the same wound on her chin last week! It's never happened before and came out of nowhere (she's an indoor kitty). Vet looked at it and said "Oh, that's weird. It should heal up just fine on its own," and that was all. Still a mystery, but it's healing.

Yes! They got back to me and said it looks like acne related. They put me in an appointment slot but told me I just need to keep an eye on it and keep it clean, and if it heals before the appointment I can cancel. Since then it's almost disappeared and the area just has black dots similar to when he had chin acne, so I cancelled the appointment. He's be totally happy this whole time!

Yes! I wonder if it was stress acne! I just went on my first business trip since pandemic began, and had a pet sitter come in, so he must have been in shock. The acne mark showed up a day after I returned even tho his behavior is happier than ever. Good thing it was nothing for both of our babies!

One of my cats developed the chin issue - turned out to be due to a food allergy. Luckily we had a specialist in feline food allergies & he told me what food to change to- no issues after that! She had reactions to chicken & peas-
