Found stray cat with microchip - legal questions

One final note on this topic. The neighbor's cat that I was helping to trap when I trapped Dodger instead... she was trapped last night at a neighbor's house! My neighbor texted me the good news this morning. She was dirty and skinny, but otherwise OK. She'd been missing a month, same as Dodger, and both were in the same wooded area. Wonder if they crossed paths out there. My neighbors have been worried sick about her. I'm so happy they found her. Two cats out of the cold tonight with full tummies and warm beds :)
