Best thing to do is have her looked over by a vet. A large belly could be a sign of worms, pregnancy or simply the fact that she is a large cat. A vet should look her over to tell for sure whether she is indeed pregnant. She should definately see a vet regarding her butt being red. Best thing to do is to take her indoor and keep her seperated from your other animals...and take her to the vet on Monday.Originally Posted by binks615
Hello Everyone. I'm A Newbie. My name is Emily and Yesterday A female, Possibly Pregnant Very beautiful gray cat stepped up to my mom. We think someone ditched her. Signs that shes been out for a while. no one claiming shes lost. We posted signs but being in the country, cats dont just get lost. people around here either have barn cats or care enough about theyre cats that theyd post signs of a cat missing in bars stores and restraunts. Just wanted to know what some sure signs are that the cat could be preg besides a bulgy belly. Shes not exactly a small cat...buffly built. her butt area is also very red should i be concerned about that???
The only way to know for sure is to feel movement in her tummy. If you can feel the kittens moving..she is indeed pregnant.Originally Posted by binks615
We plan to take her to the vet. Plan to have her spayed to if no one claims her by the time the kittens are born and given to good homes. Just was curious about some ways i could tell before we are able to get her to the vet. dont have the money for a vet visit till payday. Thank you
The rescue I volunteer with has had false pregnancies in the past..which is why I don't recommend using belly size and personality as the signs of pregnancy. We've had cats that have shown both that we SWORE were pregnant..and then their date past...and we took them to the vet and they either were simply big, loving cats OR had a bad case of worms. I'm not trying to discourage you...simply stating that not all cats that look and act pregnant are in fact pregnant...which is why I suggested having her vet checked. A vet can also determine if she has FELV or FIV which she could pass on to her kittens.Originally Posted by binks615
So far from yesterday this has been her personality. Shes friendly, doesnt mind if you pick her up but she gets edgy when you try to touch her nipples or her belly. She doesnt seem to be aggitated by her butt. She mostly sleeps. She sleeps alot and eats a little. When i had my cat ralph (male) he ate everything. should have named him garfield. but he wasnt fat. he was a very slim cat. She the new cat we have seems to be overly fit but when she gets up to walk she has a bulge.....she squats occasionally, like shes going to clean herself or try to pee. thats about it of how her personality is.
You are welcome....let us know if she is indeed pregnant..and pictures are always welcome.Originally Posted by binks615
