Hi everyone. First of, I've never had a cat in my life, so I really don't have much knowledge about cat behaviour. So, onto my dillema:
Last weekend, I was at my boyfriend's country house when his father found a small kitty, almost lifeless, with both eyes closed with some weird yellow fungus. I cleaned her gently, and one of her eyes opened, but the other kept releasing the weird liquid.
She would not eat anything, not even drink cat milk. We stayed for the weekend and on Monday I took her to the vet. The vet kept her for the day, she was very very weak and ill. Her eye was lost, she will never be able to see from that one, but the other one is just fine. Now, we took turns this week to keep her, so we could give her the antibiotics, but none of us can keep the kitty much longer. I have a dog, and my boyfriend has a very unsocial cat, and both our parents are not willing to let us keep her. She is in very good shape right now.
I thought about giving her up to an animal shelter, but I'm afraid no one will take a cat with only one eye.
The other solution would be to keep her in my bf's country house. But that would mean she would have to sleep alone in the house and spend most of the time by herself. We can go everyday and give her food and spend sometime with her, but I'm afraid she'll get lonely. Still, it's better then letting her die
I might be moving out by October, and if so, I could take her with me, but the move is not set in stone.. What is our best option? I want her to have a chance to live a nice life, but I don't know what to do. She is about 2 months old. Please help.
