Hello all,
Yesterday we took in 3 new foster kittens (yeah, I know, after questioning if I would even continue fostering.) and this morning I noticed that one of them, a little dilute torbie named Amelia, has a very large open wound on her lower stomach.
I only noticed it this morning because she was a little shy spending most of the time in her crate last night and I didn't want to bother her. This morning when I went to feed them all and clean litter boxes, she was being cute and playing. She then stopped to lick her tummy and that's when I noticed the wound!
It is quite large, open and wet although not full of pus or gooey and it looks to me like it has been there some time. Amelia is approx. 9-10 weeks old, and I am thinking a possible umbilical hernia although I am not sure. It doesn't seem to bother her terribly but obviously needs vet care ASAP. I was able to get the shelter manager to get us a vet appointment for this afternoon, so please keep her in your thoughts and send those vibes!
