Hi, I am fostering a handsome fellow who has nerve damage in his shoulder, most likely from being hit by a car, and a leg that he drags around. He chews at his paw and the poor thing has bloody sores. I took him to a vet orthopedic specialist who said that due to extensive nerve death, amputation is the best option. I concur.
I'm sure others have had "tripawd" cats that have gone through an amputation. How did they do post-op? Did you use a special litter box or anything else to help the kitty out? Any "PT" type exercises? Did you notice a change in their personality, especially around other cats, after the amputation? Any wisdom you have, please share. I've never cared for a foster through an amputation before.
Thank you!!!
