They're coming in to do a final measurement. I'm not sure what day yet they're coming to install the floor, but they'll tell us on Tuesday.
We chose a luxury vinyl grouted tile. Why vinyl? Because of my legs, more than anything. Ceramic tile is really hard and I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. There are days when I'm in the kitchen pretty much all day and I don't sit down....I'm on my feet the entire day. Yes, I can put a rug down, but a rug is just something else for the cats to puke on.
Ceramic tile can also be dangerous if it gets wet; it's really slippery. We talked and talked about it and we decided to go with the vinyl tile. I think I'll be happy with it.
We'll have to move everything into the living room: stove, fridge, and the hutch. And the dining room table. Fun, fun! We have to get some plywood, so we don't do too much damage to the carpet. It will have to be a nice day for the installation, too, because of any fumes....we don't want the cat getting sick, so the windows will have to be open.
So they'll come in Tuesday night for the final measurements and then they'll install and grout the floor. Rick said he doesn't want to have to deal with it at all, although he's agreed to be home for the installation.
And then.....we still have to finish the under-cabinet lighting, the backsplash, and the new fridge.
When that's all finished, we're starting in on the new bathroom.
