It took a few tries, but Nikolai is now loving his daily walks in his Kitty Holster. He's my first cat, so what do I need to know about or ask for in terms of flea and tick prevention in northern Virginia? I gather approach varies by region, and I assume it's a couple more months before they're out. But maybe not.

Hi. Fleas can survive through freezes and snow, so there is no guarantee you are not already exposing Nikolai to them (I imagine the same thing applies to ticks, but I don't know). Ask your vet what they recommend for your area, but be sure to have them explain all the details about the treatment(s) they recommend - efficacy, potential side effects, etc. I am not from your area, so hopefully other members who are will come along soon and offer what works for them!!
