Good afternoon,

Our kitten is about 11 weeks old but we have been told she was the runt and I am not sure if she is 1.5 pounds yet. (Vet appt. coming soon) Is there a flea/tick prevention that is safe if a kitten is not 1.5 pounds? The Frontline Plus I have says they must be at least 8 weeks and 1.5 pounds. Thanks!

At that age she should be almost 3 pounds so if she's under 1.5 pounds she's very underweight :(. So if she's healthy she should be heavy enough. If you have a home scale you can weigh yourself, then weigh yourself holding her, then subtract your weight. And most kitchen scales go up to 3 pounds so you can try that if you have one. But if you want to wait until the vet visit to confirm, you can use a flea comb until then. It's not convenient but it is effective.

Great! Thanks. She is very tiny and I will probably wait for the vet to confirm. Have a great day!
