Hi everyone, thank you for taking the time to read this. So my cat, Luna, is 3 years old. We've had her since she was 6 months. Was indoor/outdoor until about 5 months ago. She had surgery for pyometria. After that, we just kept her indoors. (which she did really well with not wanting to go outside anymore.) So, when she was around 1, we took her to the vet and they said she does have FIV. But that she can still live a relatively long healthy life. THere has been a couple different times in the last year and a half where she got a bad cold and just got sick, and we took her to the vet and they gave her antibiotics. she always recovered beautifully.
Well lately, Luna seems to sleep a smidge more than usual. (not much, she has always slept a lot.) She still eats and drinks well, just maybe a little less. She has usually had two bowl movements a day. lately she's only having one or so. I know with having FIv, shes gonna be sick on and off. and sometimes she probably wont feel well. oh, and a little piece of her gums are tad bit red. i read gingivitus could be from Fiv? Is this all normal for FIV positive cats? She still plays like theres no tmrw. Shes an ornery girl! lol Especially when my hubby gets home from work. She seems to really be extra happy when we are both home.
Another thing, after her surgery in march, she has slowly gotten a bigger belly. We realized we were probably feeding her too much, and she wasnt going outside anymore, so she wasnt getting exercise. So we're hoping that she just started gaining weight. I got scared when i read about FIP and organ failure causing large bellies in cats. Sorry to ramble on. I just wanted to give you info about my Luna, and see if other people can give me some info if they have had cats with FIV. Did they live a long time? Were they sick often?
Thank you so very much for taking time to read this. God Bless you all, and your kitties too!
