Hi
Nearly 3 weeks ago we brought 2 kittens home. They had weepy eyes, ear mites, were underweight and were covered in fleas. We went to the vets the very next day got antibiotic injections and over the next 3 weeks got rid of worms, ear mites and fleas using stronghold spot on and the vets are happy that they are putting weight on. They were at the vets 4 times over 2 weeks!
However, I have noticed with one of our kittens when she yawns i can smell a quite strong fishy smell. I have also noticed with both kittens after they have eaten they kind of do an inside burp or a hiccup. And the occasional smelly passing of wind! They are eating dry food "advanced nutrition kitten" from pets at home that was recommended by one of the veterinary nurses.
They are both very happy and run around like loons always playing and come for cuddles when they are worn out! Both are eating fine, drinking lots of water and their poo is solid.
I have been reading online that cats should not have smelly breath. I had heard as well that dry food is supposed to help keep their teeth healthier, so I am worried whether it may be something to do with their digestive system.
They have not had their 1st injections yet even though they are now 10 weeks old ( i think the vets were concerned about weight and getting all the other little niggles sorted 1st, and whether they were actually as old as we were told they were!)
If anyone has any experience or knows about fishy breath, inside stomach burps and occasional smelly wind please let me know. I am getting them booked in next week for their 1st injections but want to know if i should be worried about these other things more.
Thanks in advance.x
