Um, it's not as cheap as pyrantel but it's not too bad (this goat suspension is the same as Panacur for cats and dogs): Safe-Guard Goat Dewormer with 10% Fenbendazole | Jeffers Pet

Here's the actual brand-name stuff, it looks like the granules are pretty concentrated but still not very expensive, unless you buy the whole pound (less than $1 per dose for cats): Panacur ® (Brand)

Did you get it from the vet? They often have high markups :/.

The vet compounded it into a suspension to be taken for 5 days.

Compounding costs a bit, but if Foster & Smith can sell the suspension for 29 cents per ml, it shouldn't be too much! How much did they charge you?

Oh, yeah, that's WAY excessive. I'd have a chat with the vet's office to find out why they charged that much. Maybe they'll give a partial refund. I mean, if they charged you $25 or $30 I'd call it a normal markup but that's just nuts.

I'm glad it's not just me who thinks I was over charged.

The kitten in question doesn't even weigh a pound. I am more than happy to pay for their expertise, compounding and calculations for such a little creature. But when you mark it up that much i feel taken advantage of.

My vet must run on volume, not price, because he approved the Fenbendazole over the phone and didn't make a penny. He isn't hurting for business though. The next appointment they can take is over 3 weeks out, so they're swamped.
