Hello everyone! I'm brand new to this site, and I need a some help.
I am very worried about my 16 months old cat, Yogi. He started getting sneezing attacks this morning, and I mean really nasty ones.. He was sneezing every 30 to 60 seconds for extended periods of time, and he was really lethargic and hiding from me. He had watery eyes and he kept pawing at his little nose. I posted about loss of eye colour earlier on this forum, now I think there might be a connection.
I also have another cat, Cibelle - she is 9 months old and pregnant. She had similar symptoms earlier, but not nearly as bad as him. I took both kitties to the vet this afternoon, and he said that Yogi's got Feline Respiratory Complex, and most likely he got it from Cibelle, since she is more of a carrier of the disease.
The vet said that Yogi's got it pretty bad, and he prescribed Clavaseptin 50mg for 8 days twice daily, and Viralys. I just administered the first dose about 4 hours ago, no change yet, and I started researching the drug to see what it's all about. I'll post the link in case any experts read this and could give a second opinion: http://veto.naccvp.com/view_label.ph...rodnum=1234294
The reason I request a second opinion is because I googled the disease, and I never saw the mention of this drug. I'm wondering whether it is too mild especially in a multi-cat household where kittens are expected.
Here is a description of Viralys: http://www.drugs.com/vet/viralys-oral-gel-can.html
My vet was unsure whether it is ok to administer it to a pregnant cat, so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Kittens can be stillborn if the virus seriously attacks the mother.
I just got my kitties less than a month ago and I never had cats of my own, so you can probably see why I'm worried and panicky.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions and advice!
