If the other cats have been vaccinated I would wait a week or two before the mingle. I would also do a good sweep on whatever room the kitten was staying in. The virus can lurk for a long time. If the other cats have been vaccinated then all should be okay.
Thanks so much for the reply. He really had me worried for awhile, but he is doing great and eating now and playing. It's been 3 days so far so i'll keep him separated for awhile. We have a lot of little ones that are not vacinated. He was with them for awhile before we realized he was sick so I guess we will keep an eye on the others. I'm not even sure that's what it was, but it just seems like it may have been. He was very week and lethargic and would hang his little head over the water bowl. He couldn't hardly move for awhile. I brought him in and kept putting water in his little mouth. I was so glad he pulled through!!! Now he follows me everywhere I go and doesn't want to be out of my site. He also wants to eat off the little spoon I used instead of his bow.
It doesn't take long for them to get spoiled. Thanks again for the response! Sheri
It's a very dangerous disease which needs veterinary care. It is possible that your kitty has some other kind of virus. Please see the vet if symptoms return (with him or with any other cat).
If it was distemper, than the germs can lurk around for quite a long time. You shouldn't bring in any unvaccinated cats for the next couple of years at least.
