I have have/had been feeding my cats live prey. I have owned a pure Leptailurus serval, F1 Bengal ( that is 50% Prionailurus bengalensis and 50% Felis silvestris catus), F3 Savannah (12% theoretical twig value of Leptailurus serval and 88% Felis silvestris catus) and various pure Felis silvestris catus.
I have been breeding my own prey items for years now. It is MUCH cheaper then the "high quality" canned/wet food. At least in my area of the world. If you want to see a list of the prey items, I have or had been feeding please see this link/post: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/259215/the-great-protein-list. My
Our kitties have a safe outdoor enclosure we thought was rodent proof. WRONG! One night Callie, our little hunter, came in with a live mouse. She dropped it on the floor and started to play with it like a toy. Before I could catch the poor frightened little thing and take it outside, it scooted under the refrigerator. All 4 cats were in the meatloaf position watching the space under the fridge when I went to bed. Sadly, the next morning when I got up, the mouse was dead on the floor in the dining room. No one ate it. They played with it to death. :'( She also sits by the backdoor where the weather stripping has come loose and catches the small lizards that come in..... we don't know if she eats them or not. We find their tails on the floor.
