Howdy. Our cat Marlow might have a slight eye infection. He has a little bit of tearing and slightly colored discharge from his left eye. Is it okay to give him polysporin antibiotic eye drops even though it's for humans? Thanks.

I use terramycin with mine. Never had an issue. You can find it at tractor supply here. Takes about 3 days to notice a difference.

It's an ointment and not fun to apply. Definitely not a good idea to give human meds to animals. I understand they are the same but dosages are wayyy different and hard to measure out.

I had to give my cat eye ointment for several months and the specialist told me a good way of doing it. Put the required ointment on the end of a damp cotton bud and wipe it on the bottom lid. It is a lot easier and eliminates contamination of the tube.

Thanks for your replies and help. When i searched the net i found a medicine for cats that had the same ingredients at the same concentrations as the polysporin so we are going to try it. We will watch carefully for any adverse reaction.
