Hi, my guy Sid is only 3.5 yo and has been battling pancreatitis, thickened intestinal walls and IBD. He’s been on pred for at least 1 yr now. He has slowly been losing weight and just spent 3 days at a specialist getting his calcium number back up and with a nasal feeding tube. He came home Friday with continued pred, cerinia, mirtazapine and calcium. He ate for me Friday and Saturday but Sunday only ate 1 time. He is back at my local vet getting fluids and checking calcium- the plan was to install a feeding tube with me doing the feedings and meds at home. The vet originally wanted to do a biopsy on his colon to see if just IBD or if lymphoma. We decided we didn’t want to put him through the biopsy but would probably do the tube. She then said we could continue to treat with pred and add in chloambucil. Even if only IBD, she said a lot of cats have significant improvement in their quality of life. When I asked how long for the chemo drug, she said for the rest of his life. This I guess was a shocker for me. Just looking for wisdom from past experiences on this. Thank you.
