ear mites or ear wax???

OK.....We just adopted an outdoor kitty that has been hanging around the house. We keep her outside but previously we let her in to play with my other 2 indoor cats on our screened in porch. I believe that she may have ear mites. Now my indoor kitties have a brownish dirty looking substance in 1 ear. Can you have earmites in just one ear????

Also I have heard that if earmites go untreated that it can eventually drive a cat crazy. Is that true? Any suggestions on an ear mite preventative?

Earmites are not known to drive cats crazy with anything other than the cat scratching their ears like crazy and causing them to bleed. You need to go to the vets and get some ointment and put them in all your cat's ears. Also it is a good idea to take the new cat in and get her tested for all the known diseases as well.
