Some ear mite treatments recommend putting 10 drops of warm olive oil in each of the cat’s ears before treating the ears with ear mite medicine.  The olive oil is supposed to help loosen and clean out ear wax and ear gunk.  However, when I read the instructions on the ear mite medicine bottle, it says that the ear mite medicine will do the same thing as the olive oil and that it will kill the ear mites as the same time.  Should I do the olive oil procedure before I put in the ear mite medicine?  Has anyone done this two-step procedure on their cat?

I would not do the two-step process if you are already treating with the ear mite medication. I think it could possibility interfere with the medication process. And, why do more than you have too. I am sure your kitty would appreciate only one treatment at a time in the ears. ;) I would take a cotton ball that is moistened with warm water slightly and wipe out the ears of loosened dirt before you apply each treatment. :vibes::vibes:
