Lately Shadow has been having a lot of dry heaves. It sounds like she's trying to cough up a hairball, that super wheezy "hyuk hyuk" over and over. But there's been no hairball in the past few weeks. Sometimes she spits a little something up, but more often than not she just stops after about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
She did it just now, and there was something totally weird this time. She had been snoozing in the chair on her side and she didn't change position. She didn't get up and hunch over like she expected something to come up, she just stayed the way she was and eventually it stopped. It's possible she's done the same thing before, just lying there, I don't check during the sounds if she's out of sight, I just wait until the sounds cease before looking for the hairball.
We did have an emergency food change, no time to mix, about two weeks ago. So tummy upset from the food change is a possibility.
Is this worrisome? Or is it just old age, new food and being too lazy to get up?
