We have a silver metal water dish for our cat. She rarely uses it and we worry shes not getting enough water... Yet, when she is out on the patio she ravishingly drinks rain water out of ceramic dish. She seems she is very finicky about pure water. We tried buying the purified drinking water for her, but she turned her nose up to it... grrrr Any thoughts?

Do you think it could have something to do with the temperature of the water? I'm not sure if that's it, but it's just a thought.

Maybe it's the dish? Maybe your cat doesn't like the reflective surface of the stainless steel? Try a ceramic dish inside for water. Or a pet water fountain.

If you are feeding your cat mainly canned food, then she is getting plenty of water from that. You can add extra water to the canned food to ensre good water intake.

Thank you, good suggestions. We thought it was the reflection as well. Will change and see what happens

I had one cat that would not drink out of a water dish if it was placed close to her food dish, so you might to try moving her water to a different location.
