Okay, so about 10 days ago my neighbor had removed a tree in their front yard of course that caused several hours of a lot of noise. I walk out into the living room I find one of the cats that live in this house hiding in a box. I pick him up and I bring him in my room because the sound was less loud in here. Now usually if I pick him up and bring him anywhere with me for love he just runs away and doesn't want to be with me it's been that way for all the years we've had him living in the house he's just skittish and shy. Now anyway this time when I brought him in I picked him up from the box and I told him everything would be okay if I brought him in my room now it's been 10 days he still won't leave the room I put him out in the living room within an hour or less he comes running back into my room he stays with me all night and literally all day when I'm home but he's never been like this towards me before what could have caused the change? Is he aware that when he was scared I was keeping him safe or is something else going on? Because I've also heard behavioral changes can because my medical problems. So I wonder if he's sick or if he realized I was just trying to keep him safe that day what do you guys think?

Hello and welcome to TCS. Adorable kitty. :catlove: How old is he? It's possible that he just feels safe with you now.

But, then, he could also be ill.

Is he eating and using the litter box normally? Is he alert and active?

Cats are known to hide when they are ill, so it you suspect he might be ill, a vet visit is a good idea. It's always best to err on the side of caution.

I hope that's all it is but I'm concerned cuz he's not using his litter box like normal but he is eating like the normal amount he would but in a different way I have to bring it in here he doesn't like it when I take him in the kitchen and leave him there then he just comes running back so to feed him I bring food in here and then he eats like a good and normal amount. I don't want him to be sick he's such a baby he is probably about 12 years old

Definitely keep an eye on him if he's not using the litter box normally. He could either be constipated, or have a UTI. If he's 12 years old, though he's still your baby, he is a senior, so a vet checkup is probably a good idea. Or at least call your vet, and tell them what's going on and get their advice.

Awesome thanks for the advice I definitely want to make sure he's okay. I hope that he's okay and that he just decided he likes me. Cuz all the time I've known this cat he's never been known to be cuddly or affectionate or anything but now he sits on me until I fall asleep. Also last night for the first time in 11 days he left my room on his own while I was asleep I know that cuz the way the door is open and cracked it looks like he's gone in and out. Also he has never really had affection or love in this house cuz he never wanted it my family says he's probably happy now that he's finally getting affection and love. Somebody else also suggested that because I helped him when he was terrified now I'm his security blanket.
