Door Mat as Scratching Post

Is there any way to stop my cat from destroying the front door mat?   Alicia Acconcio in Molokai, Hawaii

Sure - get one for your cat.  Teach her/him that their mat is for scratching, and your mat is for you.  Works a treat.

You'd have to cover it in double - sided tape/tin foil till they get the idea.
I say if your front door mat is all they are scratching at, you've got it pretty good.
