Hi everyone, I know there's so many posts about these, but I just wanted to get yours opinions. This is my foster cat (age unknown - about 1-2 yrs). She is 3 days post-op. She's eating/drinking/going to the bathroom. She has not be allow to lick the wound. I know there is a lump sometimes from suture reaction, but are they normally this big? No pus or seepage, and she does not seem to be in any pain. She's acting 'normal', but I know that's not always an indication.

Thanks for your help - this is my first time around with this. We found this girl and her four kittens under our deck and are getting them all fixed.

Looks pretty good to me. Mu little girl had a lump like that, but it went away after a week or so. All the real big work went on inside your cat. It's still healing in there, even if it looks all healed-up on the outside!

Thank you for your input. She lets us touch it, and it does not feel warm, and she stays relaxed while we're looking at it. She seems to be in good spirits. We'll continue to monitor obsessively ;)

I don't think so. I would call the vet. Does the lump feel warm?

Nope, it's not warm, and she let's us touch it. I e-mailed the photos to the clinic that did the surgery, and they said:

"Thank you for your email and sharing the photos. I spoke with our vet and she says everything looks normal - it's most likely either a reaction to the sutures or buildup of scar tissue. Continue to keep Fern quiet/comfortable and monitor for changes. If any additional symptoms are present (lethargic, no appetite, diarrhea, etc), then reach out to us Monday for a possible surgery recheck. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Have a great weekend!"

I think it looks normal - maybe just keep an eye on it? It should be noticeably better in a few days :)

UPDATE:

Just wanted to update for future visitors who may come across my photos: all turned out to be normal and Fern is recovering fine. The vet said the lump was just a suture reaction, and it has continue to go down of the last several days.

FINAL UPDATE:

Fern is three weeks post-op and doing great. There were no complications - she just had a particularly lumpy reaction to her sutures.
