Do cats sweat at their pads when nervous?

The weirdest thing happened today coming back from visiting a Bengal cattery. I assume it has something to do with "other" kitties' smell lingering on our clothing when we came through the door. My female kitty, Pixel, just sniffed away at us for the longest time and didn't seem to approachable (whereas normally she leaps in our arms). Then, I noticed on our hardwood floors all sorts of wet kitty pawprints. I figured she had just been in the bathroom sink or something. But when I touched the stuff on the floor is was kinda oily-based but had no scent. Her paws seemed drenched in this weird discharge but I have no idea what it could be? Do cats sweat at their pads of their feet when nervous or scared?

I would search for whatever the kitty got into. Cats don't sweat, but they do release a scent from their paws. It isn't as visible as you stated so I think she got into something.

Yes, cats sweat from their paw pads, but usually only when they are very stressed. One of mine does this every time she is at the vets. She leaves little moist paw prints all over the exam table.

F.Y.I. when they are so nervouse that they are sweating from their paw pads, they can also run a "nervous" fever. Just make sure that the kitty doesn't overheat. My girl that gets sweaty paw pads when she's at the vets runs a nervous fever but she has never "over heated," but it is a possibility.
