I don't think the temperature is always accurate because with my foster Boots(the one that had 8) we took her into the vets the day she gave birth, and they took her temperature, said it was normal, and gave us some meds for her. Then about an hour after that, she went into labor and popped a kitten within a half hour! But I think that may have been to do with the stress of going to the vet...Originally Posted by Carlysmom
Really because every site that I've read says their temp drops below 100 if they are going into labor. Who knows? I've begun to think that they go into labor when they want and will hold off on labor when they aren't ready.
Zoe did the same thing- she ate while in labor!Originally Posted by cslenker
Baby Girl didn't do half the pre-labor signs. She ate some (not much) during labor but she refused water. I think the biggest thing is to watch the cat for her to act different. It's good to know the signs but don't rely on them.

I took her temp and it was 100.6 so that's normal again. Maybe tomorrow.
Well, the nesting is a good sign- it really varies from cat to cat. Molly was nesting for a week, and Kiki never looked at a nest until a couple hours before birthOriginally Posted by Carlysmom
Let me ask you guys a question. At what point did they start going into their nest and staying there? Was it 24 hours before they had kittens or beyond that or just before? I went to check on Carly and she was laying down inside her litterbox. As you know that is my biggest fear that she will give birth in there so I went and got the medium sized dog crate we have in the garage and cleaned that up and put a towel in there for her. She investigated it and seemed to like that it's covered but later I found her in the cardboard box that I have set up in our linen closet. I am guessing it's close if she's looking for the spot but I just can't stop worrying that it will some how happen in the litterbox.
