I went from 100 percent canned food and twice a day insulin.... to the zero carb YOUNG AGAIN dry food and no insulin. ONE week my kitty was at the vet nearly in a kitty coma . dehydrated and barely moving when I got home from work. I will continue to use the dry but should have transitioned slowly. ie...cut the canned food and insulin in half and kept the dry food down. His sugar was 500 when he hit the vet but believe it or not....he has been higher even on insulin....he is very brittle diabetic and tries to eat everything in site. Having the dry down keeps him from terrorizing the household but it was too much of a change at one time. my other cat (not diabetic) did fine but he is young and healthy. like I said...I will continue to keep the zero carb food down...it lasts a long time....just to curb his craziness with trying to find food but I will continue with wet and the insulin (half),, until I see it is not creating havoc with his health. I am a nurse and cats are somewhat new to me but I am sold on at least one meal with wet after this event and reading all the potential urinary problems.
