Very early this morning my cat was not acting ok and her lip was swollen and raw, I thought she ingested a toxic substance and rushed her to the emergency vet across town ( I am in awe that I did not get a speeding ticket}. The vet said that since she has a known allergy to fleas and from what he sees and has seen in other cats she likely has Eosinophilic granuloma complex, eruptions from flea bites or allergy to foods, in her case fleas. She got a cortizone shot is and resting. I am very scared because not only did this happen but the cat next door that use to play w/ my cat is in late stages of Felv, and when I did a web search to see about her allergy, this symptom could also be Felv!!! I did ask them since they drew blood to run through the lab for allergies to also run it for Felv. I am just concerned about my baby who is not even 2 years old yet.I have always worried because every since she was 4 weeks old up until now she has a fever of 103.7 that never went away.(Now 22 months old} She was an orphan and did not get mamas milk for antibioties.
