I am so truly sorry, I feel your pain. It's difficult enough with the loss of one family member, let alone two within a short time. And yes, they are our family fur and all.

I hope you do volunteer, when you are ready. It sounds like a great solution for the interim since you can't really adopt right now, and I think it will help you heal your heart as well. Just remember to take care of yourself through this grieving process.
