I finally found a solution though(at least for my cat and hopefully some of yours)! I used to have to fold her up like a burrito and for some cats they're okay with that. Mines however cries and sometimes even hisses.
So I tried another method which I waited until morning when she is hungry and brought out her favorite snack. Be prepared to lose a lot of their favorite snack in the process. The key for mines is to keep her distracted. I recommend a freeze dried chicken treat or something alike so that they can take their time chewing instead of a crunchy treat where they may just straight up swallow it.
Take a treat out and hold it in your cat's view and they'll try reach it. While they're trying that, extend one of the claws out and when you're ready to trim it, pull the treat in and let your cat have the treat. While they're busy chewing, take a quick snip and repeat the process. Simple but I finally found a way for my cat at least where she was so distracted that afterwards she forgot all about the nail thing and was waiting for more treats which I did give her for being such a good kitty.
