My cats blood test showed creatine kinase to be 650 when normal high is 440. I called the vet because they never mentioned the finding, and they said it’s high because of the needle to get blood the cat struggled. Is there any other reason it could be high, every other part of blood test was normal.

Creatine kinase (CK) is a muscle protein and does go up in muscle damage, and a 1.5-fold elevation is the low level you’d expect from struggling. In most diseases you’d see elevations of 5 to 10 times normal. In disease, you would also see significant elevations of other molecules such as ALT, AST, bilirubin, GGTP.
